Fall Is a Season of New Beginnings

0Comments

Fall is a season of new beginnings – school starts, and our community settles into a new routine for the coming months. It’s also a season of looking forward, and we have so much to look forward to in Los Alamos!
Los Alamos County Community Services Department (CSD) is getting ready for winter, and another spectacular season at the Rink! Improvements were made to the Ice Rink, including new restrooms and locker facilities, new rubber surfacing, and protective netting at the west end of the rink. Mark your calendars! The tentative opening day is November 12, followed by Turkey Bowling November 19 and the Winter Classic Hockey Tournament December 9-11, including a game between the NAHL New Mexico Ice Wolves vs. El Paso Rhinos.
Another new amenity we can look forward to is the Aquatic Center Leisure Lagoon! This project has long been a dream of many community members, with construction beginning in early 2021. The project is nearing completion and will soon make a splash as the newest year-round facility for family fun! Supply chain issues have caused some delays, but we are excited for the day this new facility will open. Features include: a zero-depth entry area for toddlers, with various water toys and a small slide; a deeper intermediate section for potential water volleyball and basketball activities; a lazy river; and the twisty slide which is partially visible from the exterior.
CSD is looking for new staff for these great amenities! Please visit the County jobs page at www.losalamosnm.us/jobs to apply!
Having incredible facilities and amenities available to the community is one of our #favoritethings about Los Alamos. For more information about facility hours, rates, and events, visit the Los Alamos County Seasonal Activity guide here: https://issuu.com/…/docs/2022_fall_booklet_final_digital
