FOIA Request to Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development regarding recent course syllabi on August 6, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted by the Santa Fe Standard to the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development. The request, dated August 6, 2025, seeks access to a comprehensive list of course syllabi for all undergraduate and graduate courses offered during the Spring 2025 academic semester. This includes syllabi from all departments, schools, and colleges, regardless of whether the courses were conducted in-person, online, or in hybrid formats.

The request specifically asks for relevant metadata accompanying each syllabus. This includes details such as the course title and number, instructor name, department or academic unit affiliation, and the course delivery format. The information is requested under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act with a preference for electronic format delivery.

The Santa Fe Standard has emphasized its role in providing news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of its commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, it has requested a fee waiver based on its status as a media organization. The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which aids media companies in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA requests.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
