Introducing Liz Martineau – 2022 County Fair & Rodeo Grand Marshal!
Liz was raised in a military family, whose travels and experiences instilled in her an appreciation for diversity and an insatiable curiosity to explore the world. She raised two daughters on the Pajarito Plateau where they enjoyed hiking and exploring the outdoors. After earning a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership, she went on to teach elementary and middle school for 18 years, work as a Science Education Specialist for LANL for 12 years, was the Executive Director of the Los Alamos Historical Society, and is now “retired.”
Liz enjoys working with community organizations and advocating for life-long education. One might call her a “free-range” educator! Projects Liz is currently working on in the community include: Sharing the Math A-Museum with schools and organizations; managing the Los Alamos Ambassador Program for Discover Los Alamos (LACDC); starting a Seed Library with Mesa Public Library; and volunteering with Lemonade Living.
