Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales expressed his sorrow over the death of Roberto Mondragon, a significant figure in New Mexico’s cultural and political history. Mondragon, who was the youngest person to be elected as lieutenant governor in the state, served two terms from 1971 to 1975 and again from 1979 to 1983. His efforts in preserving New Mexico’s Hispanic heritage are recognized as enduring contributions.
Mondragon dedicated his life to public service and cherished the musical traditions of New Mexico. He was a well-loved friend to many, and his absence will be felt deeply. Lieutenant Governor Morales extended his condolences to all those who knew and loved Roberto Mondragon.
