Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the Chief Purchasing Officer or designee, coordinates the County’s procurement process function and purchases goods, services, and construction. Responsible for procure-to-settle process, including supplier relationship management, inventory, logistics, sourcing solicitations purchase order and contract development, expediting, award, post-award, and administration. The Sr. Buyer leads the day-to-day conduct of the solicitation and contract function, the purchase order function and/or the inventory function. Monitors and ensures compliance with County records and risk management guidelines, applicable laws and regulations, and principles and standards of ethical supply management conduct. Monitors and ensures compliance with County and other requirements between procurement, suppliers and potential suppliers, departments, legal, budget, finance and accounting personnel. Delivers inventory, purchasing, sourcing and contracting training. Audits and reconciles procurement and other County records to supplier records. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.

Buyer Minimum Qualifications:

•Associates degree from and accredited college or university in Supply Management, Logistics Business Administration, Finance or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

•Four years of experience in procurement/purchasing, or supply management.

•Must successfully complete pre-employment physical exam prior to commencing work.

Sr. Buyer Additional Minimum Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree from and accredited college or university in Supply Management, Logistics Business Administration, Finance or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

•Two years of supervisory experience or senior-level position experience, which includes team leadership, project management and mentoring junior-level positions across all years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) certification, Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) certification, Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification, Certified in Supply Management (CSM) certification, Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) certification, or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.

•National Safety Council Forklift Operators Certification or equivalent.

•Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
