Mayor Michael Garcia, members of the Santa Fe City Council, and City staff announced on June 2 that they will host a Southside Spanish-language community town hall on Tuesday, June 9. The event is intended to provide updates on key projects, services, and initiatives affecting Southside neighborhoods and to hear directly from residents.

The town hall is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center, located at 3221 Rodeo Road in Santa Fe. The meeting will be conducted in both English and Spanish.

The event will begin with remarks from Mayor Garcia and attending City Council members, followed by a moderated question-and-answer session. Residents are invited to ask questions, share concerns, and learn more about city projects, programs, and services. Topics expected for discussion include economic development, immigration-related policies, homelessness initiatives, neighborhood infrastructure improvements, parks and recreation projects, road improvements, as well as other issues important to Southside residents.

City staff will be available during the event to assist residents with constituent service requests and connect them with appropriate city resources. Representatives from the city’s Economic Development Department will also answer questions regarding business development opportunities and economic initiatives specific to the Southside.

“The Southside is a vital part of our community, and these conversations are an important opportunity for residents to engage directly with City leadership,” Garcia said. “We want to hear from our neighbors, share updates on projects and investments underway, and continue working together to build a stronger Santa Fe.” The city continues its investment in Southside neighborhoods through infrastructure improvements, parks and public space enhancements, economic development initiatives, and programs designed to improve quality of life for residents.

All Southside residents and community members are encouraged by organizers to attend the discussion.
