New Mexico Freedoms Alliance is encouraging residents to support candidates for the upcoming 2026 elections by signing nominating petitions and helping identify potential candidates in districts lacking conservative representation.

The group outlined three actions for supporters. First, they are asking registered Republicans to sign Larry Lead Marker’s petition for U.S. Senate before March 15. Marker is seeking to run against Democratic Congressman Ben Ray Lujan. The statement from the organization clarifies, “We do NOT endorse candidates, but Larry Lead Marker has been a stalwart ally in the NM freedom movement since 2020.” Only those who have not signed a previous petition for another candidate, Chris Vanden Heuvel, are eligible to sign this petition.

Second, voters are urged to sign petitions for House of Representatives candidates in their respective districts by early March. All House seats will be on the ballot this year. Among the highlighted conservative candidates are Isabella Solis (District 37), Julia Ruiz (District 36), and Ben Luna (District 53), all from Doña Ana County. Candidates must collect signatures by March 9.

Third, the group points out that there are currently no declared conservative or Republican candidates in 27 House districts across New Mexico. They encourage supporters to share this information widely in hopes of recruiting new candidates for these areas.

According to New Mexico’s official legislative website, voters can check which district they belong to and find their current representatives through an online tool: https://www.nmlegis.gov/Members/Find_My_Legislator

Maps showing district boundaries and additional information about running as a candidate can be found at https://www.sos.nm.gov/voting-and-elections/data-and-maps/house-district-maps/ and in the state’s official candidate guide: https://www.sos.nm.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/IT-0106-19C8BDB9C6B-0D43C033C1201771C1-2026-Primary-Candidate-Guide_Final-_.pdf

In their message, organizers stated: “We are non-partisan and do NOT endorse candidates. Nonetheless, it is clear that conservative/Republican legislators are currently most likely to help solve NM’s ongoing high crime, abysmal education system, and attacks on constitutional/parental rights.”

The appeal was signed by Sarah Smith, Karen Larré, and Melanie Rubin of New Mexico Freedoms Alliance.
