The Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System is set to take part in the City of Española’s Centennial celebration on Friday, September 27. The event will be held at the City of Española Plaza from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., where Santa Fe County staff will join representatives from the New Mexico Environmental Department and the Office of the State Engineer for community outreach.
During the celebration, attendees can meet with project representatives to learn about the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System, its benefits, and how to connect once it is completed. Information and assistance with required documentation for system connection will be available. Additionally, free water testing for private wells will be offered by the New Mexico Environmental Department and NM Health.
According to project information, “The Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System will divert water from the Rio Grande in Northern New Mexico and bring a reliable supply of clean drinking water and improved fire protection to residents of the Pueblos of Pojoaque, Nambé, San Ildefonso, and Tesuque, as well as certain residents of Santa Fe County. Once operational, the system will deliver up to 2,500 acre-feet of water annually for consumptive use, with future capacity for expansion.”
