UPDATE: JULY 26, 4:10 PM – Power Outage Resolved for Mesa Residents
All Barranca Mesa and North Mesa customers have power again after a lightning strike took out electric service for about 1,600 residents around 2 p.m. today.
Department of Public Utilities Electric Distribution crews were able to isolate lines to restore service for many customers while working to repair the damaged power line near the descent into Rendija Canyon.

UPDATE: JULY 26, 2:49 PM – Power Back on for North Mesa
Though restoration isn’t yet complete after lightning took a power line down on Barranca Mesa today, power is back on for North Mesa utility customers. Residents on Barranca Mesa will have to wait a little longer for restoration.
Department of Public Utilities Electric Distribution crews are working to repair the damaged line which is near the descent into Rendija Canyon. They are trying to isolate lines in order to restore power for as many customers as possible while repairing the downed line.
The outage, which occurred around 2:05 p.m., initially affected about 1,600 customers. About 670 are still without power.

Power Out on Mesas Due to Lightning
Power is out on Barranca Mesa and North Mesa. Department of Public Utilities Electric Distribution crews are making repairs to a power line on Feeder 16 that was taken down by lightning. Restoration time has not been determined yet.
