The City of Santa Fe announced on April 24 that it will celebrate Bike Month in May, along with the second annual Summer of Bike, which will run from May through August. The initiative aims to encourage both residents and visitors to explore Santa Fe by bicycle and participate in a variety of bike-related activities throughout the summer.
According to the announcement, community members can take part in events such as social group rides, educational opportunities for cyclists at all skill levels, and receive special discounts at participating local businesses. Organizers say there are options available for experienced riders as well as those new to cycling.
One featured event is Bikes for Business, which begins with a ride to La Reina on Wednesday, April 29. This event will continue with monthly rides on the last Wednesday of each month through September. The rides start at 6 p.m. at the Railyard Water Tower and depart at 6:15 p.m., covering a distance of three to five miles before arriving at their destination by 7 p.m. The event is organized by Santa Fe Economic Development and the Santa Fe Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
Registration details for Bikes for Business are available online, along with access to the full Summer of Bike calendar where participants can learn more about how to get involved.
These activities are designed not only to promote cycling but also support local businesses and foster community engagement during the warmer months.
