The City of Santa Fe announced on March 30 that the 4th Annual JB White Memorial Basketball Tournament will take place from July 17 to July 19, 2026. The event is open to club, travel, and school basketball teams with divisions available for students in grades three through twelve.

The tournament has become a significant event in the local sports calendar and serves as a platform for promoting gun violence awareness. Last year’s tournament welcomed nearly 100 teams and approximately 1,000 basketball players. Participants received free bags, T-shirts, and wristbands featuring JB White’s name and highlighting the ongoing commitment to raising awareness about gun violence.

Organizers also reported that last year they were able to eliminate a $13,000 balance for the JB Memorial Scholarship at the University of New Mexico through proceeds from the tournament.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to mark their calendars and begin planning their team’s involvement. Registration details will be announced soon according to city officials.

The tournament continues to honor JB White’s legacy while bringing together young athletes from across different backgrounds.
