The City of Santa Fe announced on April 22 that it will host a community volunteer event called “Paint the Plaza” on Saturday, May 9. The initiative invites residents to join Mayor Michael Garcia in downtown Santa Fe for a day dedicated to improving the appearance of the Plaza and nearby streets.

The event aims to bring together community members to help with painting curbs and maintaining public infrastructure in the downtown area. Organizers say all necessary supplies will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work.

According to city officials, participants should arrive at Santa Fe Plaza by 8 a.m., with activities scheduled until noon. The city hopes this effort will support ongoing care and upkeep of key public spaces in Santa Fe’s historic center.

Mayor Michael Garcia is expected to attend alongside local volunteers, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement in maintaining shared spaces. The City encourages interested individuals to sign up online ahead of time.

City officials said they hope this event fosters greater community pride while ensuring that downtown remains welcoming for both residents and visitors.
