The City of Santa Fe announced on April 1 that it will hold a public information meeting for the Acequia Trail Extension project and provided updates about upcoming construction for the Tierra Contenta Trail Extension.
These projects are part of Santa Fe’s efforts to improve connectivity and safety for pedestrians and cyclists through enhancements to its trail network.
The second public information meeting for the Acequia Trail Extension, which will run from Rufina Street to San Felipe Road, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8. The meeting will take place at the Southside Branch Community Room at 6599 Jaguar Drive from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. During this session, “the project team will present the final design for the 0.96-mile extension of the Acequia Trail.” Attendees are invited to learn more about the project and ask questions.
Spanish interpretation services will be available during the meeting. Persons with disabilities or those needing special accommodations or an interpreter are asked to contact the Land Use Department at least five days prior to the event.
Additionally, as part of ongoing work in partnership with GM Emulsion, Santa Fe will construct a new trail crossing at Lucia Lane in Tierra Contenta. This work is expected to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety in that area. To accommodate construction activities from April 6 through April 17, Lucia Lane will be closed; motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and allow extra travel time during this period.
These developments reflect Santa Fe’s continued commitment to expanding its urban trail system.
