Santa Fe County has announced a public hearing for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. This program, under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, aims to support local communities by funding essential facilities, promoting economic development, ensuring decent housing, and maintaining a suitable living environment.

The New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) expects to distribute approximately $11 million in CDBG funds statewide through a competitive process. The county has been gathering community input for project selection through a series of public meetings in preparation for the 2025 CDBG application cycle. The county’s application is due to the DFA by August 19, 2025.

The public hearing will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz Public Housing’s Housing Office located at 153 Camino de Quintana, Santa Fe, NM 87532.

The New Mexico CDBG Program focuses on projects that benefit low- and moderate-income individuals. Applications can request up to $500,000 without a certified cost estimate and have no cap when accompanied by a certified estimate from a licensed professional. Planning grants are capped at $50,000.

During the hearing, county staff will review eligible activities and funding categories. Community members are encouraged to attend and provide input or testimony supporting proposed projects.

Santa Fe County emphasizes accessibility for all individuals. Those needing auxiliary aids or translation services should contact the Growth Management Department at 505-995-2737 at least 48 hours in advance to make arrangements.

For those unable to attend the hearing, written comments can be submitted to Maxx Hendren, Capital Planning Team Leader at Santa Fe County Growth Management Department via mail at PO Box 276, Santa Fe, NM 87501 or email mhendren@santafecountynm.gov.
