Santa Fe County has announced a public hearing for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, scheduled for July 8, 2025. This marks the fourth such hearing aimed at discussing the county’s 2025 CDBG application. The program, established under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, provides funding to local communities for essential facilities, economic development, housing, and living environment improvements.

The New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) is expected to distribute approximately $11 million in CDBG funds statewide through a competitive process. An example of a successful project funded by the CDBG includes the Greater Glorieta Regional Well (GGRW), which cost $2.4 million and was completed through collaboration between Santa Fe County and the Greater Glorieta Community Regional Mutual Domestic Water Consumers and Sewage Works Association. This project ensured a sustainable water supply for 70 households.

Pre-project selection hearings were conducted in June 2024 alongside the GGRW project’s closure, with another held on June 24, 2025. These hearings aim to identify potential projects for inclusion in Santa Fe County’s CDBG application due by August 19, 2025.

The upcoming public hearing will take place at the County Commission Chambers in Santa Fe and can also be attended virtually via Webex or viewed live on YouTube or Facebook. Instructions are available on Santa Fe County’s official website.

The New Mexico CDBG Program focuses on projects benefiting low- and moderate-income individuals. Applications can request up to $500,000 without a certified cost estimate or have no cap with an estimate from a licensed professional. Planning grants are limited to $50,000.

County staff will discuss eligible activities and funding categories during the hearing. Community members are encouraged to participate by providing input or testimony supporting proposed projects.

Santa Fe County emphasizes accessibility for all participants. Individuals requiring auxiliary aids or translation services should contact the Growth Management Department at least 48 hours before the event.

For those unable to attend, written comments can be submitted to Maxx Hendren at Santa Fe County Growth Management Department via mail or email.
