Santa Fe County has announced a series of public hearings for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. This initiative, established under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, is designed to support communities by funding essential facilities, ensuring decent housing, promoting economic development, and maintaining a suitable living environment. The State of New Mexico expects an annual allocation of approximately $11 million for distribution across the state.

The CDBG Program in New Mexico prioritizes activities that benefit low- and moderate-income individuals. Grant applications can request up to $500,000 without certified cost estimates from a licensed professional; there is no cap with certified cost estimates. Planning applications are limited to $50,000.

To inform local citizens about the CDBG Program and address concerns or project initiatives, Santa Fe County will hold a public hearing on June 24, 2025. The meeting will start at 1:30 pm or immediately after the Housing Authority Board meeting concludes at 102 Grant Ave., Santa Fe, NM 87501 (County Commission Chambers 2nd Floor). Instructions for virtual participation via Webex or watching through YouTube and Facebook can be found at www.santafecountynm.gov/joinmeeting.

During these hearings, eligible activities and categories will be detailed. Interested parties are encouraged to attend to present project ideas, provide supporting data, and offer testimony. Residents have an opportunity to express their needs and influence future community development projects.

Santa Fe County emphasizes accessibility by offering auxiliary aids or translation services upon request. Those requiring such services should contact the Growth Management Department at 505-995-2737 before the hearing to discuss specific needs like interpreters for the hearing-impaired or readers for the visually impaired.

For more information about the CDBG program or to submit written comments, contact Maxx Hendren, Capital Planning Team Leader at PO Box 276, Santa Fe, NM 87501 or via email at mhendren@santafecountynm.gov.
