Santa Fe County is reminding residents of upcoming free green waste and household waste drop-off events at local Convenience Centers. The county says these seasonal opportunities are intended to help reduce wildfire risk, improve neighborhood appearance, and support responsible waste management.

Residents who have a valid Santa Fe County Solid Waste Permit can bring green waste—including yard trimmings, leaves, branches, brush, and untreated wood debris—to the Stanley, Jacona, and Eldorado Convenience Centers on August 1–2 and September 5–6, 2025. More information about what items are accepted is available on the Santa Fe County Convenience Center webpage.

The county is also promoting Toss No Mas, an annual event where residents can dispose of solid household waste for free. This year’s Toss No Mas will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025. All County Convenience Centers—Eldorado, Jacona, La Cienega, Nambé, San Marcos, Tesuque, and Stanley—will participate in the event. Standard disposal rules apply; residents are encouraged to review prohibited materials listed under County Ordinance No. 2014-010 before visiting.

“These programs are part of the County’s commitment to wildfire preparedness, environmental health, and providing accessible services to residents,” according to the county.

For questions regarding green waste disposal or operations at convenience centers—or for information about obtaining a solid waste permit—residents can visit the Santa Fe County Convenience Center webpage or contact Les Francisco, Solid Waste Superintendent at 505-992-3068 or lfrancisco@santafecountynm.gov.
