The Santa Fe County Public Works Department has reopened County Road 51 (Ojo de La Vaca) at the Galisteo Creek low water crossing. The road had been closed while crews cleared large rocks and debris from the area, restoring access for residents and motorists.

According to county officials, “While there is still a steady flow of runoff at the crossing, the water level has receded enough to allow for safe passage.” An Alert Santa Fe notification will be sent to inform affected residents about the reopening.

Motorists are being advised to use caution when traveling through the area and not to drive through high or fast-moving water. The county expressed appreciation for community cooperation during the closure: “Santa Fe County thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during the closure.”

The Santa Fe County Board of Commissioners has allocated funds from general obligation bonds for constructing an all-weather crossing at Galisteo Creek. The design process for this permanent solution is already in progress.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for Alert Santa Fe to receive real-time alerts and updates.
