Santa Fe County announced on March 25 that it will hold a community meeting for El Rancho residents to help them decide whether to connect to the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System. The meeting is set for Tuesday, March 31, at 6:00 p.m. at the El Rancho Community Center at 394 CR 84.
The meeting is important because residents on 84B and along CR 84 west of Evergreen Lane must notify Santa Fe County by April 2 if they want connection costs covered by the fund. The session aims to assist homeowners with paperwork and answer questions about water rights and well numbers.
Officials from Santa Fe County and the Office of the State Engineer will be present to support residents through this process. Other landowners in El Rancho who wish to connect are also encouraged to attend. Eligible participants include those living in areas covered by the Aamodt Settlement Agreement, such as NM-502, NM-503, Highway 285 from Pojoaque to Tesuque, and Bishop’s Lodge Road.
Santa Fe County said it will continue hosting meetings as the project expands but urges all eligible residents to complete their well election forms soon so they can be considered for inclusion in the service area. Project Manager Scott Kaseman is available for questions or notifications regarding intent to connect.
According to the official website, Santa Fe County promotes community engagement through public meetings, advisory boards, and access to documents. The county supports its operations with administrative facilities across its jurisdiction and operates under a Board of County Commissioners alongside a County Manager overseeing administration.
Santa Fe County provides services throughout incorporated municipalities, pueblos, and unincorporated areas according to its official website. These services include public safety, health programs, human services initiatives, public works projects like this water system expansion, and community development efforts.
The broader impact of these efforts aligns with Santa Fe County’s focus on transparent governance and resource stewardship as outlined on its official website. Officials encourage eligible households not yet connected or undecided about joining the new water system infrastructure project to take part in upcoming meetings or reach out directly for assistance.
