Santa Fe County is seeking qualified individuals to join its newly formed Independent Salary Commission. This advisory body will evaluate and recommend salaries for county elected officials and commissioners, with evaluations occurring in odd-numbered years and recommendations due by December 1 of those years.

The Board of County Commissioners established the Commission during a meeting on May 13, 2025, through Resolution No. 2025-54. The Commission will have seven members: five appointed by the Board and two chosen by those appointees. Candidates must reside in Santa Fe County and meet at least one of several qualifications, including being a community representative, legal professional, human resources expert, executive manager, or an at-large member.

Those interested should submit a letter of interest and resume to the Santa Fe County Human Resources Department by June 24, 2025. Applications can be sent to Valerie Aghaei Park, Director of Human Resources.

The role offers an opportunity to influence public service in Santa Fe County by ensuring fair compensation for officials while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
