Santa Fe County has opened the draft Fiscal Year 2025 annual report on municipal stormwater management for public review and comment. The report, which covers initiatives from 2024 to 2025, is prepared for submission to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as part of the requirements under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit NMR040000.

Stormwater pollution occurs when runoff carries trash, chemicals, and sediment into local waterways such as arroyos, ditches, or drains. This type of pollution can harm wildlife, damage infrastructure, and affect drinking water quality and the Santa Fe River. Public input is considered important in improving these management practices and protecting water resources.

A draft of the report is available for public review online at the Stormwater Website. Residents may also request a physical copy at either the Customer Service Center of the Santa Fe County Administrative Complex at 240 Grant Avenue or at the Santa Fe County Public Works Complex at 424 NM-599 Frontage Road.

Comments must be submitted by September 19, 2025, by mail or in writing to the Environmental Compliance Office at PO Box 276, Santa Fe, NM 87504, or via email to mcarr@santafecountynm.gov.

For additional information about this process or how to participate, residents can contact Michael Carr, Environmental Compliance Officer, at 505-995-9515.
