The Santa Fe County Planning Division is looking for a volunteer to join the County Open Lands, Trails and Parks Advisory Committee (COLTPAC). The committee, which consists of nine residents from the county, advises the Board of County Commissioners on matters related to natural and cultural resources in open spaces, trails, and parks. There is currently an open position for a representative from Commission District 3.

According to the county’s announcement, COLTPAC is responsible for recommending properties for acquisition as open spaces, trails, or parks; establishing volunteer subcommittees for specific concerns; reviewing and updating criteria used to select properties; assisting with updates to the Open Space, Trails and Parks Plan; advising on funding priorities; and working with staff on public outreach.

Applicants are encouraged to have experience in fields such as trail planning or construction, hydrology, ecological restoration, agriculture, wildlife management, water resources, public administration or finance. Selection will be based on qualifications and a letter of interest. Appointments require confirmation by the Board of County Commissioners.

The committee meets quarterly after regular business hours with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Members serve three-year terms.

Interested candidates should submit their resume and letter of interest to Adeline Murthy at the Santa Fe County Planning Division by mail or email at amurthy@santafecountynm.gov. The deadline for applications is Friday, October 24, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

Applicants who do not receive confirmation within one business day are asked to contact Adeline Murthy by phone at (505) 995-2774.
