The Santa Fe County Community Services Department is seeking volunteer members for its DWI Planning Council. The council, created under Resolution 1997-87, serves as an advisory board to the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners on matters related to driving while intoxicated (DWI), underage drinking, alcohol misuse, and related substance abuse issues.

Membership is open to residents of Santa Fe County with backgrounds in law enforcement, legal, medical, education, substance use and treatment, elected office, public health, traffic safety, and media. The department also encourages applications from community members who have personal experience with behavioral health challenges.

The council’s role includes developing and advancing evidence-based policies and planning efforts aimed at reducing DWI incidents and substance misuse throughout the county. Issues reviewed by the council and the Board of County Commissioners may include updates to regulations, local ordinances, or recommendations for state-level legislation.

“Santa Fe County encourages all qualified residents to apply and contribute to making our community safer,” according to the announcement.

More information about the DWI Planning Council can be found at santafecountynm.gov/dwi-planning-council.

Those interested are asked to submit a resume and letter of interest to LeAnne Rodriguez, DWI Program Manager at the Santa Fe County Community Services Department. Applications must be received by Friday, October 28, 2025, at 5:00 pm. Submissions can be sent by mail to PO Box 267 Santa Fe, NM 87501 or via email at lrodriguez@santafecountynm.gov.
