Santa Fe County is seeking volunteers from the general public to serve on its Ethics Board. The board is made up of five members who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Their main responsibility is to enforce the County Code of Conduct.

Ethics Board members serve two-year terms and can be reappointed after their term ends. Meetings are called by the chair and occur no more than once a month, but not necessarily every month.

Those interested in serving must not have any affiliation with Santa Fe County government, whether as employees, appointees, elected officials, or volunteers. In addition, board members cannot hold public office or party positions within the county.

The Ethics Board’s jurisdiction covers matters outlined in the Santa Fe Code of Conduct. It can review and suggest changes to this code when needed. If an official or volunteer is found to have violated the code after a hearing, possible penalties include a civil fine up to $300, a written censure, or referral to authorities for further action.

Individuals interested in applying should submit a letter of interest and resume to Gabriel Bustos, Ethics Board Staff Liaison at the Santa Fe County Manager’s Office by August 14, 2025.
