The Santa Fe Regional Airport announced on April 13 that it will hold a public meeting to discuss a proposed new access road project. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center.
The purpose of the meeting is to explain why the project is needed, review alternatives under consideration, and share the schedule for the project. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn about environmental issues, community and business concerns, as well as landscape and aesthetic treatments related to the proposal.
According to information provided by airport officials, the proposed access road would connect the NM Highway 599–Jaguar Road interchange with Aviation Drive near the new airport parking area. The study corridor for this project spans between 500 and 800 feet in width between these two points.
During the event, displays and information about the project will be available. Project representatives will address questions from attendees before giving a presentation followed by an additional opportunity for public comment. Refreshments are planned for those attending.
Public input is welcome at any time; however, comments specific to this meeting are requested by April 30. Those unable to attend may submit comments via email or contact James Garduño, Project Manager at Santa Fe Regional Airport, or Jonah Ruybalid of Molzen-Corbin & Associates for more information or assistance with Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations.
Broader implications of this initiative include improved access routes around Santa Fe Regional Airport and consideration of community feedback in shaping infrastructure projects.
