The City of Santa Fe announced on April 25 that its Planning and Land Use Department is developing a new Development Review Guide aimed at improving the city’s development review and building permitting processes.

The guide is intended to make the procedures more predictable, transparent, and consistent for both applicants and city staff. Officials say it will document procedures and clarify expectations so all participants can have a common understanding of the process.

As part of this initiative, the city is inviting feedback from anyone who has participated in Santa Fe’s development review or permitting processes. Residents are encouraged to complete an anonymous survey that takes between 10 to 20 minutes. The survey will remain open until May 11, 2026.

A statement from the city said, “If you have had any experience with the development review process, we would like to hear from you.” The city also asks community members to share the survey with their networks, including colleagues involved in these processes.

The effort reflects ongoing attempts by Santa Fe officials to improve government services through increased transparency and community engagement. Next steps include reviewing public feedback gathered through the survey as work continues on finalizing the Development Review Guide.
