Innovation: 4 patents granted in Los Alamos in week ending Aug. 15

Patent 15

There were four patents granted in Los Alamos in the week ending Aug. 15, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is two more than the week before. Patents included an oral microbiota composition for oral and/or sinus infections.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 15 belonged to Knoze Jr. Corporation who filed in July 8, 2019.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
