The New Mexico Department of Health’s Los Alamos Public Health Office, located at 1183 Diamond Drive, will offer no-cost back-to-school vaccinations for all children aged 18 and younger. These vaccinations are available without an appointment, regardless of whether the child is a patient or has insurance.
Parents are required to bring their child's shot record and Medicaid or private health insurance card if applicable. However, immunizations will be provided at no cost even if the child does not have insurance.
To obtain a copy of vaccination records, parents can visit VaxViewNM.org or contact the New Mexico State Immunization Information System Help Desk at 1-833-882-6454. The immunization program operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a lunch break from 12 to 1 p.m. Voicemails left outside these hours will receive a callback.
The vaccinations are part of the Got Shots? immunization campaign organized by the New Mexico Immunization Coalition, which includes the New Mexico Primary Care Association and the Department of Health. This year, over 75 community health centers, public health offices, and private practices across New Mexico are participating in the campaign.
For more information on child vaccines and school vaccine requirements, parents can visit VaccineNM.org or call the NMHealth Helpline at 1-833-SWNURSE (1-833-796-8773), which is staffed by nurses ready to assist.
