Flu season has arrived, and two hospitals in Las Cruces are offering drive-thru flu shots for individuals aged six months and older. The annual "Boo to the Flu" event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 19, at MountainView Regional Medical Center and Three Crosses Regional Hospital while supplies last.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) is providing the flu vaccines, which will be available free of charge for adults and children at MountainView Regional Medical Center, and for adults only at Three Crosses Regional Hospital.

“Flu vaccines are updated every year to offer us the best protection against the virus,” said Dr. Miranda Durham, Chief Medical Officer of NMHealth. “Getting you and your family vaccinated every year helps reduce the chances of getting sick, missing work or school, or developing serious illness.”

Though there is no cost for vaccinations, attendees with insurance should bring their insurance card.

At MountainView Regional Medical Center, everyone aged six months and over can receive drive-thru vaccinations at the hospital’s Medical Plaza. Traffic Control personnel will guide visitors to the "SHOT CLINIC," where MountainView staff will assist with paperwork.

"MountainView is proud to once again participate in the Boo to the Flu event," said Matthew Conrad, Chief Executive Officer of MountainView. "By providing convenient access to flu vaccinations, we aim to keep our families protected and our community thriving."

Three Crosses Regional Hospital offers vaccinations for adults aged 19 and over. Signs along North Main Street will direct visitors to Samaritan Drive where additional signs indicate the drive-thru location on campus.

“We are honored to be participating for the second year in a row," said Roy Rivas, Marketing & Community Liaison at Three Crosses. "This community outreach aligns with our mission: an advanced independent healthcare organization led by a local team dedicated to high-quality patient-centered care."

NMHealth advises yearly flu vaccinations for everyone six months old and above during flu season from October through May.
