Santa Fe County is set to host a virtual meeting on November 6, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The session will focus on hazard mitigation analysis and emergency response planning for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This initiative is organized by the Santa Fe County Fire Department in collaboration with the Growth Management Department.

The meeting comes as a response to concerns from stakeholders regarding the AES Rancho Viejo Solar project application. County staff and third-party experts in hazard mitigation will address these concerns and provide insights into fire and life safety measures related to BESS projects.

Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their questions by November 1, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. through the provided link for pre-meeting inquiries.

Assistant Fire Chief Jaome Blay can be contacted at jblay@santafecountynm.gov for more details about the meeting. For information concerning the AES Rancho Viejo Solar project, stakeholders can reach out to Jordan Yutzy, Building and Development Manager, at Jyutzy@santafecountynm.gov.
