Cooking with Kids and the New Mexico Heritage Arts Museum recently organized a tamale-making workshop at Chaparral Elementary School. The event aimed to combine hands-on learning with cultural exploration for the students. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the rich history of tamale-making, a key aspect of New Mexican cuisine, while also enhancing their teamwork and creativity.

"This workshop not only teaches our students valuable cooking skills but also connects them to their heritage," stated Principal Erica Martinez-Maestas. "It’s a wonderful way to celebrate our culture and create lasting memories."

The students left with delicious tamales and a deeper understanding of their cultural roots, making it a memorable experience for all involved.
