Santa Fe, NM – The Santa Fe County government is urging seniors and their caregivers to contribute to shaping the future of senior services. With New Mexico's population aging rapidly, it is essential to plan for the increasing demand for healthcare, personal assistance, food access, and housing.
On April 8, 2025, Santa Fe County will launch its Senior Needs Survey. Developed in collaboration with the University of New Mexico's Center for Applied Research and Analysis (CARA), this survey aims to guide the county's senior programs and services over the next decade.
Participation is encouraged from individuals aged 50 or older or those who are 18 years or older and caregivers for someone aged 50 or above within Santa Fe County.
The survey will be available from April 8 to April 25 at all city and county Senior Centers in both English and Spanish, online or in print format.
Special events are scheduled as part of this initiative:
- April 21: Health and Wellness Fair at the Santa Fe County fairgrounds from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- April 22: Rancho Viejo Senior Services Open House at Rancho Viejo Fire Station from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- April 23: Proposal presentations and outreach activities at local supermarkets or McDonald's locations.
- April 24: Spring Fling Dance at the Santa Fe County fairgrounds with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a dance featuring live music by Lluvia Negra from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- April 25: Survey Celebration with lunch and ice cream parties at participating senior centers.
“This survey is a vital tool to ensure we meet our seniors' needs now and in the future,” said Matilda Byers, Manager of the Senior Services Program. “By participating, seniors and their caregivers will help define services, programs, and facilities that best suit our growing senior community.”
