What Makes a City Safe?

What makes a city safe? According to sites like Travel Safe and Niche.com, it’s things like having a crime rate 80% lower than the national average. For the community, it’s things like having a small-town feel, family-friendly special events, a pedestrian-friendly downtown, available support services, and clean outdoor spaces. The quality of life in Los Alamos County is outstanding and being safe is a big part of that. Help us celebrate just a few of the 2022 accolades Los Alamos has received:
• 2022 America’s Healthiest Communities: #1 Los Alamos – US News & World Report
• 2022 Top 10 Most Livable U.S. Small Towns: #2 Los Alamos, #8 White Rock – AARP
• 2022 Best Place to Live in New Mexico: #1 Los Alamos, #2 White Rock – Niche.com
• 2022 #1 Safest Cities in New Mexico – Travel Safe
When you are out in the community, take a moment to thank a police officer, firefighter, parks or utility employee. These folks are just a few of those who work hard to maintain the quality of life we enjoy.
