Power the Future speaks out against 'arrogant eco-left,' Green New Deal

Coal01

Former Santa Fe mayor David Cross recently published an opinion piece in the Dec. 6 edition of the Albuquerque Journal in which he supported the passage of the Energy Transition Act, also widely referred to as New Mexico’s Green New Deal.

Power the Future, an organization that states is mission as "offering truth, facts and research that will enrich the national conversation on energy," took exception to Cross' article, penning its own opinion that the Energy Transition Act must be repealed. The group, in the article, calls the Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club an example of New Mexico’s "arrogant eco-left."

Instead of helping residents, Power the Future asserts that New Mexico's own Green New Deal will put people out of work and take taxpayer money with the “just transition” that supporters of the act say will come if the San Juan coal plant closes in favor of renewable energy sources being developed there.
