San Juan County ranked seventh in state for resident earnings in 2017

San Juan County ranked seventh among counties in New Mexico by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of San Juan County residents was an inflation-adjusted $23,765 per year. San Juan County had 41,999 households in 2017, with a population of 128,221.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Los Alamos County. Los Alamos County's median income was $57,089 per year after adjusting for inflation – $33,324 more than San Juan County. It had 7,525 households in 2017 and a population of 18,031.

Mora County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in New Mexico, with a median income of only $12,481 per year. That was $11,284 less than the median income in San Juan County at the time. Mora County had 1,513 households in 2017 and a population of 4,605.
