Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) is gearing up to celebrate the grand opening of the new Early College Opportunities High School (ECO) campus on April 18th. The event, marking the completion of a significant renovation project, will welcome the public to explore the modernized facilities located at 2301 W. Zia Road.

Superintendent Hilario "Larry" Chavez expressed gratitude towards the community for their support, stating, "This is the culmination of a long-held vision to provide students seeking a trades-focused education with a state-of-the-art facility to support their career interests." Chavez highlighted the importance of the campus in preparing students for successful careers and college endeavors.

The ECO campus renovation was made possible through funding from voter-approved general obligation bonds, with the school's transformation beginning in 2022. The $21 million renovation effort aimed to enhance the learning environment by expanding classroom space, improving safety measures, and adding essential facilities like a gymnasium and administrative building.

Offering various college and career pathways such as auto body, computer science, and welding, ECO students have access to dual credit courses through partnerships with institutions like Santa Fe Community College and San Juan College. Superintendent Chavez emphasized the positive impact of the renovated campus on students and educators, noting that it will elevate the learning experience for all stakeholders.

With ECO seniors on the cusp of graduation, they are set to become the inaugural class to benefit from the revamped campus. Their journey symbolizes a new chapter in the school's history, marked by a commitment to providing quality education in a modern setting.
