Justin S. Green Commissioner District 1 | County Of Santa Fe
Santa Fe, NM - On March 12, 2024, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved Resolution No. 2024-035, authorizing the free disposal of green waste for county residents with a valid solid waste permit at the Stanley, Jacona, and Eldorado Convenience Centers on Friday, September 6 (8:00 am-5:00 pm) and Saturday, September 7 (8:00 am-5:00 pm), 2024.
Providing free green waste disposal days at county convenience centers in the summer months will reduce the need for burning green waste. Open burning of green waste in Santa Fe County increases the risk of uncontrolled fires.
“Green waste” is defined as yard waste, lawn clippings, leaves, shrubs, and tree trimmings. Green waste does not include weeds, cholla cacti, root balls, tree stumps, tree trunks greater than 18 inches in diameter, pet waste, rocks, dirt/soil (clean or contaminated), household waste, litter, plastic bags, metal, plastic pallets, palm fronds, lumber or any type of treated wood (this includes plywood, sheetrock and chipboard), and any construction or demolition materials.
Santa Fe County will also host a free residential solid waste disposal day on Saturday, September 21 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at all seven convenience centers for residents with a valid solid waste permit. This event occurs in tandem with the free residential solid waste disposal day at the Caja Del Rio Landfill managed by the Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency.
Before depositing wastes at Santa Fe County Convenience Centers/Transfer Stations review prohibited materials as defined in Ordinance No. 2014-010.
