The New Mexico Immunization Coalition (NMIC) has recognized several state public health employees and divisions for their contributions to maintaining the health and safety of New Mexicans. The awards, known as the Immunization Champion Awards, were presented during the coalition’s annual conference held on November 15 at the Marriott Albuquerque Hotel Uptown.

These awards aim to honor those who work diligently to increase vaccination rates and prevent the spread of viruses. Andrea Romero from NMDOH's Immunization Program stated, "Recognizing vaccine champions is an opportunity to honor those individuals who are going the extra mile to promote vaccine activities in their communities." She emphasized that their efforts reflect a commitment to protecting both children and adults from diseases that can be prevented by vaccines.

Anna Pentler, executive director of NMIC, also highlighted the significance of public recognition through these awards. "Public recognition through awards not only motivates people to continue to work above and beyond but also inspires others to do more and try new creative approaches," she said.

For further details about the awards or information regarding recipients, interested parties are encouraged to contact Robert Nott, Communication Director for NMDOH, at 505-479-0147.
