The New Mexico Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program is set to return on Saturday, February 15. This initiative, managed by the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), offers benefits to eligible seniors and families participating in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The program connects these groups with fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and local honey.

“Eating a healthy diet is key to thriving at every stage of life,” stated Dr. Miranda Durham, Chief Medical Officer at NMDOH. “It’s one of the best ways to protect yourself against chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.”

Seniors can apply online or pick up an application at their local senior center or Public Health WIC office starting February 15. From July 1 onward, WIC families can apply through their local WIC clinic or public health offices. Assistance is available via phone at 505-469-0548 or email at doh.fmnp@doh.nm.gov. Applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

For more details about farmer’s market locations and additional information visit nmwic.org. Questions regarding this press release can be directed to David Barre at (505) 699-9237.
