The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) has introduced a web resource to tackle the increasing measles cases in the state. This online hub, available at measles.doh.nm.gov, is designed to provide information and support regarding measles prevention and vaccination.
Miranda Durham, NMDOH Chief Medical Officer, stated, “While measles outbreaks don't respect state lines, our response is uniquely New Mexican—comprehensive, bilingual, and accessible to all communities.” She emphasized that the resource aims to empower residents with information on how vaccinations can protect families from measles and curb its spread.
For further assistance, the NMDOH Helpline at 1-833-796-8773 offers support in both English and Spanish. Nurses are available to answer questions about vaccination locations and details.
The measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine significantly reduces the likelihood of contracting measles compared to those who are unvaccinated. It is noted that individuals born before 1957 are generally considered immune.
