The primary election is schedule for June 2.

A Republican and Libertarian are among the six candidates who have thrown their hat in the ring for a seat on the Los Alamos County Council.

The Los Alamos Reporter indicated there will be three open seats on the council after three incumbents opted not to seek reelection.

Dave Reagor, a Republican, came to the area 32 years ago to work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and has spent that time as a researcher.

James Rickman, a Libertarian, served on the county council from 1996 to 2000. He is retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory after a 24-year stint in public affairs. His focus is keeping and improving the amenities the county enjoys for generations to come. He told the Los Alamos Daily Post his prior experience would allow him to “hit the ground running.”

Registration to vote in the New Mexico Primary Election is May 4. The primary is scheduled for June 2.
