Santa Fe, NM– The Santa Fe County Public Works Department has announced a temporary closure of Rabbit Road for the NE/SE Connector Road(s) project. The closure is scheduled for Monday, March 11, 2024, to facilitate the installation of a 12-inch waterline at the Rabbit Road intersection of the Northeast Connector.

During the closure, a segment of Rabbit Road will be closed from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with traffic being rerouted through a temporary detour. The contractor working on the project will be responsible for providing adequate traffic control measures and advance notice of the closure.

In light of the potential hazards posed by work zones, the county is emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety precautions. "Work zones pose significant hazards to pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists if breached, emphasizing the need to strictly adhere to safety precautions," said the county spokesperson.

The county is urging all pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists to respect road closures and detours and to exercise caution when navigating through work zones. Safety remains a top priority for Santa Fe County during the construction period.

For more information and access to additional safety resources, individuals can reach out to Johnny Baca, Project Manager III, at jpbaca@santafecountynm.gov. Additional project details are also available on the project website at https://www.sfcconnectors.com.
