Learning "the way it was" at Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo

Students from Albuquerque’s Native American Community Academy recently had the opportunity to immerse themselves in history at the Coronado Historic Site and Kuaua Pueblo. According to a statement from the Department of Cultural Affairs, the students engaged in learning "about the old ways of corn grinding on a metate, irrigation of crops, and water management" during their visit.

The educational experience allowed the students to gain insights into traditional practices and historical methods of living off the land. By interacting with the Department of Cultural Affairs staff at the site, the students were able to deepen their understanding of the cultural heritage preserved at Coronado Historic Site.

The hands-on activities provided a unique opportunity for the students to connect with the past and appreciate the significance of preserving historical sites like Coronado Historic Site and Kuaua Pueblo. This immersive learning experience is a testament to the importance of engaging with history in a tangible and meaningful way.
