The New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) is offering free flu and COVID-19 vaccinations through its mobile unit. These services will be available from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, at the Rio Rancho Public Schools' administration building located at 500 Laser Rd. NE in Rio Rancho.
In conjunction with this vaccination effort, NMHealth will provide an update on respiratory illnesses and virus season at 1 p.m. The update will be presented to members of the Legislative Health and Human Services Committee at the same location. Lawmakers are encouraged to utilize the mobile unit for vaccinations, while the public and media are invited to attend the hearing for current information on virus season.
Andrea Romero, Immunization Program Manager for NMHealth, stated, “This is a great opportunity for New Mexicans to take advantage of this free service.” She emphasized that the mobile unit aims "to provide vaccine to uninsured/underinsured adult populations that need access at no cost and reach underserved areas in the state, including rural communities."
For more details regarding the vaccination unit or legislative hearing, individuals can contact Robert Nott, Director of Communications for NMHealth, at 505-479-0147. Those needing assistance finding a vaccine or having questions about vaccines can reach out to the NMHealth Helpline at 1-833-796-8773 (1-833-SWNURSE).
The department also offers this press release in Spanish to enhance accessibility.
