The Santa Fe County Growth Management Department is inviting residents from Commission Districts 1 and 3 to apply for positions on the Planning Commission. The term for these roles will begin in January 2025 and conclude in January 2027.

The Planning Commission plays a critical role in evaluating land development proposals. During meetings, applicants present their projects, county staff offer reports and recommendations, and the public can voice their opinions. The commission then makes decisions or provides recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on matters such as variance requests, Conditional Use Permits, and Planned Development Districts.

Detailed descriptions and procedural requirements are available in Table 4-1 of the Sustainable Land Use Development Code.

Commission members are expected to attend monthly public hearings held on the third Thursday of each month, with additional meetings scheduled as necessary. Members must have access to a computer, email, and internet to review meeting materials and participate via WebEx if required.

Interested candidates should send a letter of interest along with their resume to Jordan Yutzy at the Santa Fe County Growth Management Department by mail or email. The deadline for applications is Friday, January 3, 2025, at 5:00 pm.
