Santa Fe has been recognized as the top small city for moviemakers to live and work in North America by MovieMaker magazine for the third consecutive year. The Winter 2025 issue of the magazine highlights Santa Fe's achievements in the film industry, featuring a photo of the city.
Santa Fe is home to Camel Rock Studios, the first indigenous-owned film studio, and Santa Fe Studios, a full-service facility with world-class soundstages. The recently approved Aspect Media Village at Midtown Campus will add two new 22,000 square foot soundstages adjacent to Garson Studios.
Jennifer LaBar-Tapia, Santa Fe Film Commissioner, stated that this recognition "is a testament to our thriving film industry, unique cultural landscape, and the incredible talent that calls this region home." She emphasized that it reflects the community's commitment to fostering creativity and opportunity for filmmakers.
Mayor Alan Webber remarked on Santa Fe's continued success: “Like a great motion picture, Santa Fe continues to win award after award.” He noted that this acknowledgment ensures good jobs and opportunities for residents.
Camilla Bustamante, Chairwoman of the Santa Fe County Commission, highlighted local colleges' role in training skilled workers and praised state tax incentives supporting the film industry. She stated that these factors make Santa Fe "a premier destination where the film industry truly flourishes."
The region offers extensive resources including local film crews and iconic sets. Productions benefit from diverse locations such as high desert landscapes and cutting-edge sound stages.
Established jointly by the City and County of Santa Fe in 2016, the Santa Fe Film Office aims to expand production activities while supporting community businesses involved in providing goods and services to the industry. It also focuses on education and employment opportunities within production sectors for local residents.
