The Santa Fe County Community Services Department is currently seeking a volunteer from the private sector to join the Santa Fe City and County Food Policy and Planning Commission (FPPC). The commission, comprised of thirteen members, includes individuals from diverse backgrounds and representatives of various healthcare services.

The FPPC's purpose is to coordinate efforts among City and County departments, non-profit organizations, and food and farming businesses to improve the availability of safe and nutritious food for residents, focusing on those in need. Responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing food programs, exploring new ways to enhance the food economy, and informing policymakers and the public about the status of the region's food system.

The FPPC was established through a Joint Resolution by the City and County in 2008. Five private sector appointments are confirmed by the mayor with City Council approval, while four members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, focusing on individuals actively involved in hunger and food insecurity programs.

Interested candidates should submit their resumes and letters of interest to Jennifer N. Romero, Health & Human Services Division Director, at the Santa Fe County Community Services. Applications are due by May 21, 2025. A background check will be required for appointed members. More information is available on the Santa Fe County website.
