On Monday June 20th, crews with Maxwell Asphalt, Inc. are scheduled to begin pavement preservation work at Los Alamos Airport that includes crack sealing and applying a seal coat and new markings to the runway and taxiways A through E. Work also includes other asphalt repairs around the hangars on the east side of the Airport and replacement of a limited number of concrete panels on the tarmac around high traffic areas. In order for crews to work safely, the Airport will be closed on Monday, June 20 through Friday, June 24.
Geoff Rodgers, Airport Manager will be overseeing the runway project. " Closing the Airport will allow the contractor to work simultaneously on all areas of the project and shorten the time needed for closure.”, Rodgers said. If the work proceeds ahead of schedule, the airport will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.
