Alisha Wald, a seventh-grader from Mandela International Magnet School, emerged as a standout at the New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair, winning six awards including first place for Physics and Astronomy (Junior Division) and the Grand Prize overall in Junior Division for Physical Science. Wald's achievements also earned her recognition from various organizations such as the Office of Naval Research and ThermoFisher. She expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "I am thrilled to have been recognized for my hard work and dedication in the field of science."

In a collaborative effort, Josue Pinales Nevaras and Lidia Hernandez O’Kelley from Nina Otero Community School focused on climate change, ultimately attracting the attention of Climate Change New Mexico. Joshua Yong from El Dorado Community School was honored with the NASA Earth System Science Award for his exceptional work in understanding our planet's intricate systems.

Despite not receiving awards, Tessa Perlman and Connor Polak from El Dorado Community School showcased commendable efforts that exemplify the spirit of scientific inquiry and perseverance within the Santa Fe Public Schools community.

SFPS STEM coordinator, Arturo Lujan, commended all the participants, stating, "As SFPS celebrates these remarkable achievements, we recognize the boundless potential of our students and their unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of scientific exploration and innovation."

The New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair provided a platform for students to showcase their passion and dedication, navigating through rigorous competitions at various levels before earning their spot at the state level.
