The Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) Board of Education finalized the 2025-2026 academic calendar during a meeting on April 10, 2025. SFPS students from first to twelfth grade will commence the new school year on August 8, 2025, while Pre-K and Kindergarten students will begin classes on August 12, 2025. The academic year will conclude on May 21, 2026.
The calendar outlines 175 instructional days, which include a full week for Thanksgiving break from November 24 to 28. According to the New Mexico Public Education Department requirements, the calendar comprises 1,140 hours of instructional time. It also allocates six days at various times throughout the year for teacher professional development and planning.
Notably, Spring Break is scheduled for the last week of March, from March 30 to April 3. This adjustment allows adequate time for schools to complete testing and makeup exams before the break, and it harmonizes the schedule with neighboring districts in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and Los Alamos.
